RESEARCH SUBJECT ADVOCATE

Safety of our subjects is given the highest priority. The advocate works with investigators to assure that all steps are taken to maximize patient safety as detailed in the protocols.

The Research Subject Advocate assists GCRC investigators in:

  • Developing Data Safety Monitoring Plans (DSMPs)

  • assuring that studies are carried out in accordance with the protocol
  • Facilitating adverse events reporting to the appropriate        committees, Food and Drug Administration, sponsor, and the National Institute of Health.
  • This position was created by NIH to help clinicians meet federal regulations and policies to protect subjects. In addition, the Research Subject Advocate is available to meet with patients to discuss clinical research and address any concerns.
